An Artist Among Us

I was really impressed with some art work I helped a custodian at work (at CDO) prepare (laminate) to give to a co-worker for a birthday. Javier asked me to help protect some art he had created: pastel drawings that he wished to keep intact and not become smudged and smeared. I thought, this guy is good! I showed Javier a photograph of some water color paintings my late brother did–Javier was impressed.

He ended up doing some murals in the CDO school library that were fantastic and so whimsical and fun. I'm ecstatic that he is still producing his art and I'm pressed with how his talent is developing. Javier has this photo stream on Flickr of his past and current art work under his pseudonym, Margarita de Santa Teresa.

Students and Cell Phones

:I recently came across a blog entry with some light discussion about students using cell phones on school (middle and high) campuses. A growing epidemic? I think not, no need to be alarmist about this phenomenon.
